Day 37 0f 100 Indian Tinder Tales
Uditvanu from Mumbai writes about how he right swiped to meet his mate.
“They say you often find love in the most unlikely places. Tis true, it happened to us, on what has traditionally been called the hook-up app, Tinder. This is the story of Isha and me, Uditvanu, and we swiped right on Tinder in Feb 2015 and got married the December of the very same year. Yep!
I’ve been active on Tinder/Okc, etc since they came into the scene. It was a fun way to meet people, as as cliche as it may sound, to have fun conversations with them either virtually or in person. The first couple of Tinder dates I went on sucked, as all the person wanted to talk about was themselves. So for me Tinder swiping was kind of cathartic, but once in a while there was an interesting profile that caught my eye.
Isha, was on Tinder, to prove to a friend that it is possible to get matches, as he felt otherwise. So she created her account and decided to go on a swipe right spree just to see what happened next.
Me, while swiping, I came across this profile which normally I would have swiped left on. No first picture. Obscure bio. But my curiosity was peaked. We had a common friend. So I decided to look further. She was reading something in one of the pictures and so I decided sure, let’s swipe right, I atleast know what I’ll ask her incase she swipes right too. Didn’t expect her to. Random guy with far too many pictures swiping right, doesn’t entice much!
But lo, she did. And the conversation that started with ‘So what book is it that you’re reading in that picture’ led to ‘how about we spend a lifetime together’? We dated for less than a couple of months, we decided to take the plunge, told the parents, they met, they liked each other, and before we knew it, we were in the mad, crazy, whirlwind of a big, Indian wedding.
It’s been amazing. We don’t have Tinder on our phones now, tease each other about it often though. But we found love, we found each other, we found our soulmates and thanks to one swipe right, we’re now spending a lifetime together.”
