Tinder India tried to go all Sanskaari on us and tried to position itself as a matrimonial app. Now H from Mumbai tells us what they are trying to do.
Day 57 of 100 Indian Tinder Tales
“So your posts totally motivated me to reload Tinder again but I wasn’t actively checking. I met a friend over the weekend and he was like this Tinder never seems to work, as I was looking at his settings he opened my app and said hey look there is this guy who has Soooper liked you.
Little excitement happened and before I realized he sent a message. I am very touché about rejections and I am done with matrimonial sites, dating sites, aunty’s doing their bit and all of it. And people have been on my case for a while so to prove people wrong I said let me give this a chance.
We spoke and he instantly wanted to meet, I was like I hardly know you. And I wasn’t looking for sex or conversation but somehow I told him, “I am going to be in your part of town so let’s meet tomorrow.” I met him and he was from a world very different from mine. He worked in the entertainment industry and I work in IT, so all the filmy gossip was fun but after a point he started showing off and that was a big put off.
Then I asked him,” How do you like Tinder?”
“I have got business deals from Tinder.”
I was taken aback.
“Where else do you meet singles?”
“What singles! I am married with a child.”
“WTF”
“Tinder is my client, they want to position themselves as a networking app not a hook-up app.”
“Can I call for the bill?”
“Don’t worry Tinder will reimburse this..”
I walked out, got into my car and deleted the app.”
