Day 83 of 100 Indian Tinder Tales
I am so inspired by Edvard Munch’s Scream so much, I must see the original. Is anyone listening?
H from Delhi shares her tale.
“Imagine a 25, single, shy, borderline misandrist tindering in Delhi. And haphephobic. I did not like being touched even by my girlfriends. Going by my own philosophy and theories about life, I judged myself as a freak and sought to correct it. And what better way than to find dates? After a series of not so interesting matches on Tinder, I came across a guy who talked just like a character out of a book. He felt familiar enough for me to pursue with some seriousness.
We met on and off for a period of around 6 months. The first two dates over three months were just shared meals and silly conversations, for we saved the more serious ones for WhatsApp.
For the third date I invited him home. After some food and a bottle of wine, we went to sleep/. Next to each other, without so much as a hug! I spent the entire night — in part fear and part thrill — wondering what I would do if he made a move, but he didn’t! He gave me my space.
After the fourth dinner date we were in his car, chatting. He casually took my hands in his, pretending to know astrology. What started off as a harmless palmistry session, ended with me experiencing my first ever orgasm (mini of course) and followed by the second! Ever inch of movement on the skin of my wrists and palms felt alien and then drove me to a state of ecstasy. Well, there’s got to be upsides to being haphephobic, no?
Tinder has been more than just a dating app for me. Two years, two cities, six Tinder dates and countless online conversations, it helped me take a crash course on the things I had missed out on as a teen. From removing my irrational fear of touch to actually discovering I crave it, the conscious and understanding touch..and to losing my V status to a Tinder date. Even though I have sworn myself off Tinder for now, I still see it as the sea of opportunities where I get to explore my sexuality. And, up until now the guys were just incidental.”
